A. P. Giannini Middle School offers all its students a highly rigorous academic program with core courses in Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Science that work in conjunction with the Elective and Physical Education courses. The program is designed to provide all Giannini students with a comphresive and enriched educational experience that advances the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of all students. |
||
All Giannini students have access to challenging core classes. In addition to instruction to the identified GATE students clustered in classrooms, instruction at the honors level is available to qualified students to allow each student to achieve the maximum learning results. For students who score Below and Far Below Basic on the CST ELA test, Prentice Hall Support Classes are offered to help close the performance gap. This class is in place of a Unified Arts class. |

| Interdisciplinary Teams make a big school small for incoming 6th grade students who need time to make the transitiion into middle school. Students are scheduled into Math/Science and Language Arts/Social Studies "cores" alternating between two teachers. Students' learning is enhanced by a story-telling, a folk art program, a Tolerance Program, by actively participating in Expanding Your Horizons sponsored by SFSU, and various field trips. | ||

The seventh and eigth grade programs focus on preparing students for the challenges of high school curriculum. Over 60% of our 7th grade students take honors math and over 70% of 8th grade students at Giannini take Algegra I for mathematics. Students who meet the criteria for core honors take Honors Language Arts, Social Studies and Science. We also have an 8th grade academic team this year and are looking to create more academic teams in the future. |
